John Bashaw - Registered Maine Guide

FOR THE BEST MAINE HAS TO OFFER IN OUTDOOR RECREATION!

River View Cottages were built in 1991. The five Cottages sleep 2-16 and have fully equipped kitchens, living room area, bathroom and satellite dish TV.

The Cottages are wheelchair accessible.

We also have four rooms available in the

Main Lodge. (picture to the right)

There are five Cottages to choose from. Each Cottage has plenty of room for privacy and outdoor cookouts!

One of the most beautiful campsites in the area!

Bring your Camper or Tent and stay with us!

We offer campsite with picnic table right on the river!

The Moose River is boat worthy! It is 8 miles to Long Pond. The ride to the lake is in the wilderness with Deer and Moose abundant in the area!

HUNTING

Our hunting season starts with Bear over Bait, beginning the last week of August and continuing through September.

Then it's small game and Deer hunting with a bow in October for Deer, firearm in November, and muzzleloader in December.

Moose hunting is by permit only, beginning the first full week of October (we are in e southwest zone). We also guide in the central zone.

The Jackman area is known for large bucks over 200 pounds. During the 1998 season 20% of the bucks registered in Jackman were over 200 pounds! The first week had 18 bucks (out of 50 registered) weighing more than 200 pounds or more!!

Stay in our Cottages and hunt on your own, or arrange for a fully guided or semi-guided hunt. Muzzleloader season in Jackman is known for the "second rut" and tracking snows.

FISHING

The season opens in April, but here in the Jackman Region, we don't have open water until the first week of May. Fly Fishing season starts around May 10, and gets progressively better as the waters warm.

We have about 100 lakes, ponds and beaver bogs in the Jackman Region, and countless brooks and streams. The Moose River and the south branch of the Penobscot River are in Jackman and the east and west outlets of the Kennebec River are nearby. You have a choice of Salmon, Trout and small Bass to catch!

- THINGS TO DO FOR MORE OUTDOOR RECREATION -

Hiking · Swimming · Remote Beaches · Camping · Cross-Country Skiing

Snowshoeing · Ice Fishing

One of the most beautiful areas in the state for ATV's! The trails start at your front door!

Three groomers smooth our 135 miles of trail system - which are accessible from your Cottage door (the Pittson Bully groomer parks in our yard, and grooms a trail to your door). Jackman is the hub of the northern Maine ITS, and connects to Greenville, Canada, Rockwood, The Forks, Stratton, Eustis and beyond.

The snowmobile trails, and the unplowed woods roads and frozen lakes, are great for Cross-Country Skiing. Don't overlook some of Jackman's other favorite winter sports:

Ice Fishing and Snowshoe Hare Hunting.
