North American Outdoor Adventure, hub of The Forks Area Trail System, has been instrumental in building the new ITS 89. From Rangeley to Jackman via The Forks Area Trail System, the new ITS 89 provides access to Grand Falls and the newly built, 185 ft. Spencer Bridge. The wide, well groomed trail has three new bridges including the 45 ft. Enchanted Stream Bridge, the Toby Bridge and the Mountain Brook Bridge. Nearly the entire length of the new trail has spectacular mountain scenery and consistently gains elevation as it enters one of Maine’s heaviest snow belts. The new ITS 89 then rediscovers the Lost Enchanted Ski Area in the heart of the Coburn Mountain Wilderness. Coburn Mountain has 5 miles of groomed trail at elevations higher than the peaks of
Sunday
River Ski Area! The new trail continues up to the North shoulder and over
Coburn Pass, overlooking Parlin Pond on its way to the Jackman trail system.
A one-mile spur to the top of Lost Enchanted Mountain will be groomed
via the old Moosehorn Trail to an elevation 1000 ft. higher than the peaks
of Sunday River through snow depths of over 10 feet.
North American Outdoor Adventure provides guided tours through endless miles of powder in the high back country of the Coburn Wilderness. Powder sleds can access the popular Shutdown loop as well as miles of ungroomed powder in the 6-mountain wilderness area via access of ITS 89.
