Dead River "BIG" Water The Dead River has more action per mile than any other river in the Northeast! During selected dates in the Spring and Fall, the Dead is flooded with 5,500-7,000 c.f.s. of wild water. Through 15 miles of remote wilderness from "Spencer Rips" to "Poplar Hills Falls", the river gains intensity with every rapid. At one point, Class IV+ "Never Ending Rapid" engulfs our rafts in an uninterrupted whitewater frenzy for nearly a mile. Soon after you're off the river, you're sitting down to a huge meal on our deck overlooking the other rivergoers. JOIN

Penobscot River If you're a true whitewater thrill seeker, then you'll enjoy a Class V raft trip down the Penobscot River. It has been called the "Place of the River Gods." Rafting the West Branch of the Penobscot begins in "Ripogenus Gorge" - a geologically unique setting located in the mountainous region of the "North Maine Woods", home of Mt. Katahdin and Baxter State Park. The pool-drop system thunders with hydraulics, blind turns, and huge drops which seem to have their own will with the rafts. The Gorge and "The Cribworks" are the showcase of Class V river navigation in the Northeast. And of course a great day on the river is never complete without the luring smell of cooking over an open fire. Enjoy a riverside snack and BBQ while looking over great still shots of YOU shooting the rapids. |

Bull's Bridge Whitewater rafting the spring runoff through Bull's Bridge Gorge is not for the apprehensive. For most of the year, the Gorge is left dry due to a 2-mile bypass canal. But normal spring runoff flows into the gorge, creating Class V rapids among the most difficult in New England. In 1984, North American became the first commericial outfitter to pioneer these rapids. With a short walk across the street, your 8-mile, adrenaline rush begins in scenery nothing short of spectacular...Boiling whitewater, an old covered bridge, cascading waterfalls and the riverside Appalachian Trail. After a brief shuttle back to our base at the well-known, Bull's Bridge Inn, we sit down to a wonderful 3-course dinner, reflecting on the day's excitement with our fellow rivergoers. Fall's Village Between Falls Village and the Housatonic Meadows State Park, the upper Housatonic River flows through the historic foothills of northwest Connecticut. This section of river offer Class I-III whitewater and scenic float trips. Relax and enjoy the scenery as the river meanders through tall hemlock groves, past old farmhouses and under covered bridges. Let us guide you, your family or your group on a river trip down the historic Housatonic. Call for information on local Bed & Breakfast, motels, hotels, and campgrounds. 1 - 800 - 727 - 4379 |
West River The West River in Southern Vermont has always been one of the most popular spots for whitewater events in New England. But a whitewater rafting trip through Jamaica State Park is more than just a day on the river. Boiling whitewater rapids flowing into Jamaica Gorge lie at the base of 600 foot rock slide dam. The only way down to our rafts is by a switchback trail system that most people find more awesome in sight than encounter. And the scenery at the bottom is no less spectacular. Our rafts launch into big whitewater excitement that lasts for the first 3 miles. The West offers both technical rapids, requiring navigation around car-size boulders, as well as fun holes and waves to ride and get wet on. After a midway snack in the Park, our trip continues through milder rapids providing opportunities for fun swims and water fights. Our day ends with a hearty river meal under the pines or by the fireplaces in our log rec-hall. The West is a great trip for both beginners or veterans looking for a unique taste of whitewater in a beautiful Vermont setting.
Call for a list of lodging and campoing in the Jamaica and Brattleboro area. 1 - 800 - 727 - 4379 |
